# How to Change Your Player Name and Town Name with Animal Crossing: New Horizons Renamer
## For those of you who downloaded the Animal Crossing: New Horizons save file from our Patreon and want to take advantage of the new multiplayer support, this game requires that your player name and town be renamed to something unique. This guide will show you how!
**Note:** New Horizons Renamer will automatically back up your current save (to a unique bak-**** subfolder) when launched.
1. Download New Horizons Renamer from [here](https://github.com/riperiperi/NewHorizonsRenamer/releases/download/v1.0.1/NewHorizonsRenamer-v1.0.1.zip) and extract it.
2. Open NewHorizonsRenamer.exe. It will automatically discover your Animal Crossing: New Horizons save data.

3. Edit your Player Name and Town Name to be something totally unique and click _Save_.

That's it! You are now ready to head to a friend's island or welcome visitors to your own.
